Film: Jarhead

Excelent. I have never enjoyed a film as much as this one in a long time. It was so good the cinema was silent from start to finish. I sugest you go and see it at the cinema for full effect.

The opening of the film is american boot camp with the best style of intro an arogant drill sargent who decides to pick on the main character. I love these types of things and it reminds me Heartbreak Ridge a film with Clint Eastwood as the best drill sargent ever. A perfect intro!

It is war in the style of the best film ever "American Beauty" (Kevin Spacey Roxors). It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will make you think all at once. Some of the cinematic choices for effects were amazing. The best one was where a artilary shell goes of near him (the main character) and the only noise you get is of the sand hitting him in the face. There is no other noise and he is the only thing on screen. It was amazing to watch. And also watch out for the oil fields bit as it is realy accurate.

A jarhead is the standerd issue recuits removed brain that is to be filled with the knowledge of a soldier. The film charts Saddam Hussain's invasion of Kuwait and the american armys presence there from the view of one man. They never se combat so for those of you epecting a full on war film forget it. It is a psycological mind game of waiting for the order to go and fight. They never actually get involved in real fighting. It is based on a novel of a real life account of the army.

My god the film gave me goosebumps all over. I would give it :
*****
A cinematograpic genius has returned and cinema was born again.

My one beef of the film is that Samuel L Jackson did not get the place of Jamie fox. Jackson was made for that role and you can tell when you watch it, but all the other actors were perfect and watch out for the spotter who went to the John Malkovich school of less is more acting.

In other movie related news, Red Eye is out today :D. Now that is a good film. Made marginally better by the lead being the magnificent Cillian Murphy *swoon* lol

Is it wrong that i had the urge to buy 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' with Lindsay Lohan on Saturday? I think it looks like my sorta things...ya know, girly and that!
